The DAZN Japan Privacy Notice accounts for differences and additional rights allowed for residents of Japan under local applicable data protection law, the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) Act.
This Privacy Notice should be read in conjunction with DAZN's Global Privacy Notice, Terms of Use and Cookie Notice.
DOCOMO customers
This Privacy Notice and DAZN’s Global Privacy Notice also applies if you sign in to the DAZN Service using a ‘d Account’ provided by DOCOMO.
Please note, by using your ‘d Account’ to sign up, or sign in, to the DAZN Service, you are also subject to DOCOMO’s Privacy Policy which can be found at https://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/utility/privacy/.
In the event of any inconsistency between the terms of DAZN Privacy Notices and the DOCOMO Privacy Policy, the terms of DAZN’s Privacy Notices shall prevail but only to the extent such inconsistency relates to the DAZN Service.
1. WHO WE ARE
We are DAZN Limited (“we”, “us”, or “our”) – better known as DAZN – and we act as the data controller of your personal information. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):

2. TYPES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Any personal information about you will be treated in accordance with applicable law, including the APPI and, to the extent applicable to the processing of your personal information, and, in each case, any superseding laws.
We use the term “personal information” as defined in Section 1 Article 2 of the APPI, to describe information about an individual from which that person can be directly identified (e.g. your email address) or indirectly identified through combination with another piece of information. Personal information does not include information where the identity of an individual has been removed (i.e. anonymous information).
As outlined in the Global Privacy Notice, we do not collect any “sensitive personal data (youhairyo kojinjouhou)” (as defined in the APPI).
We have provided detail in the Global Privacy Notice (Section 2. Types of information we collect) of the common types of personal information that may be directly processed by DAZN or transmitted to third parties for specified and authorised purposes, and will maintain this information on a regular basis to reflect existing processing activities and business partnerships.
3. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION AND EXTERNAL TRANSMISSION REGULATIONS
Where we disclose your personal information to service providers or third parties, we require them to respect the security of your personal information, to treat it in accordance with applicable law, and to use it only for specified and authorised purposes.
We provide a list of the person(s) or parties who may handle personal information depending on the products or services you use here .
4. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Personal information and information that we collect and process may be transferred, stored, and processed between any of the countries in which we or the DAZN Group operates. In these circumstances, we will only transfer your personal information in accordance with the APPI, including where:
• the country to which we transfer your personal information is prescribed by the rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission as a country establishing a personal information protection system recognized to have equivalent standards to that in Japan in regard to the protection of an individual's rights and interests;
• the recipient of personal information has established a system conforming to standards prescribed by rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission as necessary for continuously taking measures equivalent to those that a personal information handling business operator shall take concerning the handling of personal data pursuant to the provisions of the APPI; or
• you have given prior consent to the transfer of your personal data to a third party in a foreign country.
5. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on applicable data protection laws, you are able to exercise your rights in respect of your personal information we process. In addition to the rights provided in the Global Privacy Notice, as a Japanese resident you can specifically:
• access a copy of the personal information we hold about you (often referred to as a “subject access request”);
• object to the processing of your personal information where processing is for Direct Marketing purposes or our legitimate interests;
• withdraw consent where we have asked for your consent to process personal information, and;
• request suspension of processing or transfer of your personal information that is in breach of the APPI.
To exercise your rights, please see the Contact Us section. We may not be able to comply with your request based on exceptions that we can rely upon under applicable data protection laws associated with your country of residence. Should this be the case, we would inform you of this when you contact us.
We will acknowledge requests immediately and without delay and will aim to complete your request within one calendar month. Where required we will take reasonable and appropriate steps to verify your identify when making a request to comply with applicable data protection laws.
We reserve our right to collect a fee where appropriate and reasonable considering actual expenses incurred in actioning your request. To this end, we may charge a nominal payment of 2,000JPY (excluding tax) in accordance with applicable law and our procedures to process a request to access a copy of your personal information.
6. CHILDREN’S INFORMATION
You must be 20 years of age or older to subscribe to our services. We do not knowingly collect and/or share personal information about children and take steps to delete such information without notification should we become aware of such processing. If you are a parent or guardian and have reason to believe that we have collected personal information from or about your child, please contact us via the methods in the Contact Us section.
7. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY NOTICE
We keep this notice under regular review to ensure it reflects how we process your personal information, including changes to our processing purposes, your rights in respect of your personal information, and substantive or material changes to how we process personal information. We may take proactive measures to notify you of any such changes via an appropriate means to ensure you remain informed, such as emails, and website pop ups.
